The problem

We throw away because we forget.

30 kg / person / year France (ADEME)
78 kg / person / year Germany (BMEL)

Nobody throws food away from laziness. We throw it away because we don't see it at the back of the fridge anymore.

How it works

Three steps, that's all.

1

Scan the barcode

The product is recognized via Open Food Facts: photo, name, category filled in automatically. You just add the date.

2

Store wherever you want

Fridge, freezer, pantry, medicine cabinet, garage. Create your locations the way they exist at home, organize by category.

3

Get the alerts

Notification before the date, on your terms: 3 days, a week, you decide. Nothing expires unnoticed anymore.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long is a product good after the expiration date?

It depends on the type of date. Best Before is a quality recommendation: yogurt, canned food, pasta are usually still fine — check appearance, smell, taste. Use By is a safety deadline (raw meat, fish, prepared meals): do not consume after.

What's the difference between Best Before and Use By?

Best Before = quality date. After it, the product may lose taste but is generally safe to eat. Use By = safety date. After it, there's a health risk, do not consume.

How does the barcode scanner work?

Date Limite uses Open Food Facts, the largest open food database (3M+ products). When you scan, the app retrieves the photo, name, and category. Unknown products can be added by you, growing the database for everyone.

Are my data shared or sold?

No. Date Limite is built by an independent developer. The only data collected relates to your sync account (sync key, product photos). No ad tracking, no resale. See the privacy policy for details.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. All your data is stored locally and accessible without an internet connection. Sync happens whenever you reconnect.

Why 0,99 € and not free?

A free app almost always means ads, tracking, or freemium. The one-time fee of 0,99 € pays for the Apple license, OVH hosting, and the domain. No ads, no subscription, no dark patterns. A deliberate choice.
